A huge congratulations to Monica Ballard who rode Cartier 666 to win the Nupafeed Discovery Championship Final on Saturday at the NAEC, Stoneleigh.
We were pleased to see such a strong turnout despite the disruptions to the qualifying schedule cause by COVID restrictions. From the field of over fifty combinations that came forward, just under half made it through to the jump-off. Monica was one of only eight double clears and achieved the fastest time to secure the title when she stopped the clock in 36.80 seconds.
Monica commented on her round: “I didn’t think she [Cartier 666] would be quick enough as the one in the lead was so quick, but she has a big stride and stepped up really well to win!”.
Cartier 666, known as Vogue at home, is a 6-year-old homebred. For the rest of the season the combination are going to try and step up to Foxhunter and get their double clears.
Less than a second behind the winner, Abigail Leadbetter and Hearts Cruise take second place, with Jenna Frances Good riding KSJ Cordano Z taking third.
Thank you to our wonderful competitors and to British Showjumping for organising a great show in spite of another difficult year.
