“We bought a 12-year-old Dutch warmblood 2 months ago. He had been in the same home for 10 years and was on a very small, private yard. We moved him to a large, full-livery yard.
He was very stressed, which he showed by weaving and box walking violently for hours at a time, usually starting when any horse moved from its stable. He would end up dripping in sweat. I had several messages from the yard owner asking us to come up to try to calm him down. One Friday, two weeks after he arrived, we were still there at 7, and I was close to phoning the vet to ask them to sedate him.
That evening, one of the workers told me about someone on the yard who was using a ‘miracle calmer’ on their ex-racer who had been reactive when ridden when he first arrived. I rang them and they lent me some until my order could arrive. They had been told about Nupafeed by someone else on the yard whose difficult youngster had changed completely after being on it. I was also very impressed that when I rang on the Saturday, someone talked through the problem with me.
He is now on a (fairly high) maintenance amount of Nupafeed MAH Calmer and we have been spending a lot of time with him. Slowly but surely, he is calming down, and I am sure that it is the calmer which is allowing him to think about things and enabling him to come to terms with the new routine. The owner in the stables opposite, who had previously said to me that ‘he never stops’ said at the weekend that ‘he is as quiet as a mouse in the evenings now’.
He is a really good-natured horse who has a home for life with us now.”
